Ladies , Here is a picture from the web showing examples of a few munki in the middle blocks. I like people pictures of any situations especially. Use whatever colors us want cause this is a scrap quilt. I happen to love scrap quilts and i make them reversible so we can enjoy both sides. My children grew up, left home and took all the extra bedding with them. Imagine that! Every time they come to spend the night they ask me for any extra blankets.. DUHHH! So this is my wonderful way of getting much nicer blankets than they took off with. Anyhow, I want you to be the artist of your blocks Make the strips around the munki any size you want, the block size just needs to be 121/2"s. Two of them please and make them different! I decided that tonight is the night I learn how to blog. I have been watching You-tube videos so I hope this is going to work. Have fun creating. wanda

How to calcuate yardage

Crazymomquilts just posted today some examples of how to calculate yardage. It is a great post to reference if you are new to figuring out how much fabric to purchase or transforming an existing pattern into a larger (or smaller) quilt.

What is this?

The Nittany Block Party is an online quilting bee that is a spin off of the Block Party Quilt Along Flickr group. (www.blockpartyquilting.com/). We are comprised of 12 quilters working together for a year to create quilts, stretch our quilting skills, laugh, make friends and enjoy one another's company doing the one thing we all love to do.

Just what is an online quilting bee you ask? Well two.more.seconds on the Quilting Bee Blocks Flickr group describes an online bee perfectly:

"...the very basic Virtual Quilting Bee is made up of 12 people who are each assigned a separate month as their month to be the recipient of the blocks. The bee will run then for 12 months, with each person taking turns making blocks for 11 months for everyone else, and one month sending fabric out and receiving their own blocks back."

We are having an open bee where the member leading the month will choose what block everyone will make. Members can choose whether or not to have fabric added from other members' stashes to complete their blocks or just use the fabric that was sent to them by the month's leader.

Check out our Flickr group too!
